Sensational punk and metal artists Superjoint are bringing their signature sounds to the Summit Music Hall!
Superjoint (formerly known as Superjoint Ritual) was formed in the 1993 by Phil Anselmo (best known as the lead vocalist of heavy metal band Pantera), Joe Fazzio, and Jimmy Bower. They recruited Hank Williams III and Kevin Bond to complete the line up and named themselves after a lyric in a song (The Pagan Winter) by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. Their musical style can be best described as a blend of hardcore punk (a subgenre of punk rock that in the late 1970s and is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock) and sludge metal (a typically harsh and abrasive genre - that blends elements of doom metal and hardcore punk - often featuring shouted or screamed vocals, heavily distorted instruments, and sharply contrasting tempos). The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists so Phil (vocals and guitar), Jimmy (guitar), Kevin (guitar), Stephen Taylor (bass guitar), and Jose Gonzalez (drums). Though the band was formed in the early 90s, it wasn’t until Pantera split up that they started recording albums. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 2 demo tapes, and 2 video albums.
