Ride, England’s sensational alternative rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Summit Music Hall!
The band was formed in Oxford (England) in 1988 and it consists of Mark Gardener (vocals and guitar), Andy Bell (vocals and guitar), Steve Queralt (bass), and Laurence Colbert (drums). While their musical style can be broadly classified as alternative rock, it’s best described as a blend of dream pop (a subgenre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia - that developed in the 1980s – that’s characterized by breathy vocals, introspective or existential lyrics, and a focus on textures and moods rather than propulsive rock riffs), noise pop (a subgenre of alternative rock - developed in the mid 1980s in the UK and US - that mixes dissonant noise or feedback, or both, with the melodic instrumentation and production elements more often found in pop music, making it more melodic than noise rock), and shoegazing (a subgenre of indie rock and neo psychedelia, characterized by the blurring of component musical parts—typically, significant guitar distortion, feedback, and obscured vocals—into indistinguishable mixtures of sound). They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 2 live albums, 1 box set, 7 compilation albums, 6 extended plays, 1 video album, and 10 singles. Their debut album (Nowhere) is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of the shoegazing genre.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to dream pop, noise pop, and shoegazing!
