Motionless In White, The Amity Affliction, and Miss May I are bringing their signature sounds to the Summit Music Hall!
The Amity Affliction was formed in 2003 in Gympie (Queensland, Australia) by high school friends Ahren Stringer (vocals) and Troy Brady (guitar). A year later, they recruited Garth Buchanan on bass, Lachlan Faulkner on drums, and Joel Birch on unclean vocals to complete the line up. The band’s been through many line up changes since then and it currently consists of Ahren (vocals, bass guitar), Joel (clean and unclean vocals), Ryan Burt (drums), Dan Brown (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Kyle Yocum (rhythm guitar). Their musical style is best described as a blend of metalcore (a broad fusion genre of extreme metal and hardcore punk, noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages that are conducive to moshing), post hardcore (a subgenre of hardcore punk music that maintains its aggression and intensity, but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression), and screamo (a subgenre of emo that began in the early 1990s and is characterised by a stronger influence from hardcore punk and the use of screamed vocals). They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums (3 of which have topped the Australian chart), 1 compilation album, 8 music videos, and 3 extended plays.
