Sensational pop punk and indie rock bands Joyce Manor and Wavves are bringing their signature sounds to the Summit Music Hall!
Joyce Manor was formed in Torrance (California) in 2008 by guitarists Barry Johnson and Chase Knobbe. They were drunk at Disneyland and decided to form a band and it was named after an apartment building near Barry’s house. The band currently consists of Barry (lead vocals and guitar), Chase (guitar), Jeff Enzor (drums), and Matt Ebert (bass and back up vocals). Their musical style falls under the genres punk rock (a style that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and rejected the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock by using short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics), emo (a loosely categorized rock music genre characterized by expressive and often confessional lyrics), pop punk (a style that blends punk rock with pop music by combining fast punk rock tempos, power chord changes and loud, distorted electric guitars with pop influenced melodies and lyrical themes), and indie rock. Their style draws parallels with that of legendary punk rock band Jawbreaker and they also cite pop punk act Weezer and indie rock band Guided by Voices as their main influences. They’ve had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 6 extended plays, 1 compilation album, and 5 music videos.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to pop punk music!
